Christopher Guy Harrison, an internationally renowned designer, is the founder and CEO of the high end furniture collection marketed under the brand name "Christopher Guy". Born in England, growing up in Spain and France, he now commutes between London, Singapore and the USA.
Christopher discovered his passion for elegant design at the age of 16, when he was working on his first project with his Spanish stepfather, the family's house in the South of France.
When Christopher decided to design exclusive furniture, he had a clear aim: to create the most beautiful, unique and decorative furnishings in the world. Over the years he has succeeded in a very convincing and individual way. His designs are attracting a very passionate and demanding audience all over the world.
Christopher designed his first creations in the mid-nineties, when he started to develop a beautiful and unique collection of mirrors under the name Harrison & Gil. To produce these wonderful pieces, he acquired a considerable piece of land in Java and began designing and building a factory, which was opened in 1999.
After the great success of the mirror frames, the core philosophy of Christopher Guy was born - to transfer the unique design to a growing range of luxurious furnishings and decorations. In 2007 Harrison & Gil was renamed Christopher Guy to provide a complete collection of lifestyle and luxury furniture under this brand.
Today the Christopher Guy manufactory extends over an area of 10 hectares and integrates harmoniously into the lush landscape of Java. The production site is reminiscent of a huge, centuries-old Moorish castle. Christopher Guy designed this exceptional area to reflect his passion for design in the architectural style as well.
It is therefore most surprising that behind these weathered facades, a highly modern, world-famous factory offers jobs for 1,200 of the world's best craftsmen, who perform their work in this fantastic environment.
Christopher Guy’s showrooms have been designed to inspire designers and to give them a glimpse of "the world 's most iconic lifestyles." In 2012 a new space was opened in Hollywood with 1,100 square meters. In January 2013 the showroom in Las Vegas at the World Market Center followed. In September 2013 Christopher Guy opened his 2,000 square meter showroom on the top floor of the legendary New York Design Center.
Another outstanding project was the redesign of the famous flagship restaurant "The Georgian" at Harrods, London. The over 100 years old restaurant has been exclusively decorated with furniture and accessories from the Christopher Guy Collection and reopened in July 2014.
Design Philosophy - a Contemporary Mood with Classic Values
The Christopher Guy Look can be described as "contemporary with classical values". Christopher’s work is mainly characterized by elegance, which is the core of his design philosophy.
"Regardless of whether the design is inspired by modernity or classical values, it must be elegant in its own way."
~ Christopher Guy Harrison.
Christopher Guy’s typical design elements are shown in the patented Chris-X (pronounced: criss-cross) and the Silk Cut.
The gracefully crossed legs of selected pieces of furniture were inspired by Scarlett O'Hara's waist in "Gone with the Wind" and the pose of a ballerina. Likewise, the Silk Cut, a fine cut in fabric or wood, is found in numerous creations.
Christopher constantly redefines the aesthetics of design with his sense of style and elegance. The result is a place at the world's top end in the luxury furniture market.
Global Presence - Crossing Borders
With presence in 42 cities around the world, including exclusive showrooms in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Christopher Guy offers a new design approach across modern, traditional and cultural boundaries.
Christopher Guy’s creations are selected by leading designers and merchants, from the largest hotels and spectacular resorts, to the finest residences in the world. Selected pieces are also found in many well-known film productions.
